Intellectual Property is a right given to an individual that can be either an artist, inventor or author who created an original artwork, invention, literary art etc.It is protected by a law known as Republic Act 8293, or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines. It grants the rights of a creator or inventor to have a legal and registered ownership over his/her tangible or intangible ideas and concepts. The law protects the rights of investors, scientists and artists by providing penalties and appropriate sanctions to whoever tries to violate the law by infringing their rights through unauthorized copying or reproduction of their original work. The law classifies intellectual property into three types namely Copyright,Trademark and Patent. Performance Activity #1 (2nd Quarter)- Reflection Paper about the Episode "National anthem" in Black Mirror

The episode "National Anthem" in the series Black Mirror in my opinion is a brilliant eye-opener that portrayed and revealed what is currently wrong and negative in this modern society. The story, although quite distressing is a nice combination of action, thriller and mystery that the audience would dare watch until the end, no matter how frustrating the ending might be. The episode in general, is a daring take on the power of social networking.            With regards to the story itself, if I am in the shoes of the Prime Minister of having to choose whether to have an intercourse with a pig or not to save the princess, I will do what he did. It is a matter of life and death so it is an obvious choice though it will be hard for me. However, what will make the difference is what will I do after. Will I keep myself in the dark or go on and continue my job as the Prime Minister? I wil...

Performance Activity #3: Editorial Cartooning on Philippine Media

Imahe
I consider Philippine media as efficient, just and fair. It is through our media that we are able to voice out our indignation over an unjust government. Our media is always present 24/7 regardless of danger and location. It gives us accurate and up-to-date current events- something that the public deserves as a democratic nation.      Furthermore, our media always deliver both sides of the coin. Meaning they do not give us one sided stories but all angles of it. Philippine media provides us the benefit of having independent thoughts rather than shaping our own opinion on pressing issues. Because we have a democratic country, our media exercises press freedom  and according to the global press community, we have one of the most diversified and consistent coverage of news and events.      Lady Justice is the perfect symbol for Philippine media in my opinion for it "gives what is due to the people".

Performance Activity #2: Social Media Under Normative Theory

Libertarian Theory says people are rational and their rational thoughts lead them to find out what are the good and the bad, true and the fallacious without any intervention or restriction from any authority- all of which can be said to social media.       Social media sites especially Facebook and Twitter serves as the new platform for the press and the ordinary people themselves to reveal and spread the real things happening in the society. Since social media is a vast channel of distributing news and information, they are able to exercise this freedom without any censorship or any authority blockades.     In addition, Libertarian theory gives more values for individuals to express their thoughts in media. Since people can freely post anything on these social media sites, they are also given the freedom to state their opinions about current issues and whatever is the talk of the day. Furthermore, the press can also express their opinions...
